Ryan Smith

Ryan Smith, a leading expert in artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision and distributed systems, is Grabango’s CTO. Ryan has extensive experience in designing and deploying complicated enterprise-class products that dramatically improve operational efficiency. Before his role as CTO, Ryan was also Grabango’s Vice President of Product and Engineering. 

Ryan began his career at Amgen, a multinational biopharmaceutical company, and led a team of engineers in developing and deploying robotics and novel vision algorithms. Most recently, Ryan served as the CPO at Sight Machine, a company that enables many of the world’s largest OEMs to leverage artificial intelligence and stream processing for automation. At Sight Machine, he oversaw the initial product creation through the scaling of the company’s first ten international markets.

Ryan studied physics and computer science at Illinois Wesleyan University and has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
