Andreas Vogel has been working on edge computing, big data and machine learning projects for the last
10 years. He experienced ethical questions firsthand when he led product development focused on
reducing churn and increasing in-game spending for on-line games: Should AI drive players into gaming
addiction?
Subsequently, Andreas co-authored SAP’s Guiding Principles for Artificial Intelligence and developed a
detailed guidance for developers and operators of AI systems, some of them can be found in his blog AI
Society Life. In an article for Slate, he discusses ethical questions of emotional AI in the context of Amazon’s
Alexa.
Andreas holds a PhD in Computer Science from Humboldt University, Berlin.
