Shaping the Future of the Edge: Our Edge Woman of the Year Judging Panel Pt2

With Entries now Open for the Edge Woman of the Year Award, we wanted to take a moment to thank our amazing Judging Panel! At Edge Computing World 2020, State of the Edge and Edge Computing World will Present the Second Annual Edge Woman of the Year Award. This Award represents the edge computing industry coming together to celebrate the women shaping the future of edge, but it also recognizes the depth and breadth of talent available to the edge computing sector to help the market reach its full potential. Our Judging Panel exemplifies this experience, talent and diversity. Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting their achievements, and trust that they will inspire other females in the sector to enter and be recognized.

Each week, we’ve be highlighting a few of the 2020 judges:

Dr. Nadine Alameh,  CEO,  Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)

Dr. Nadine Alameh is the CEO of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), an international organization dedicated to making Location information Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) via consensus-based standards, collaborative agile development, and industry partnerships. Dr. Alameh is a
recognized leader in the field of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), with experience in a multitude of domains including Aviation, Earth Observations, Public Safety and Defense.
Prior to OGC, she held various roles in industry from the Chief Architect for Innovation in Northrop Grumman’s Civil Solutions Unit; to CEO of a small international Aviation data exchange business; to senior technical advisor to NASA’s Applied Science Program.  Dr. Alameh graduated from MIT with a Ph.D. in Information Systems Engineering, and 2 Master Degrees in Civil Engineering and Urban Planning with a concentration in Geospatial Information Systems. She holds a BS degree in Computer Engineering from the American University of Beirut.

 

 

Molly Wojcik, Marketing Director, Section

Molly Wojcik is Marketing Director at Section, a DevOps-centric Edge Compute Platform that empowers web application engineers to run any workload, anywhere by simplifying distributed computing at scale. With over 12 years of experience in marketing leadership roles, Molly is particularly passionate about early-stage category education and awareness to drive technology innovation and adoption. In addition to her role at Section, Molly helps lead the Landscape Working Group within the LF Edge Glossary project, an open source project that aims to mature the lexicon within the edge compute landscape and establish a definitive ecosystem map.

 

Eliane Fiolet,  Co-Founder & Editor, Ubergizmo.com

Eliane Fiolet is the co-founder and editor ofUbergizmo.com, where she writes in English about consumer technology, cool prototypes, and innovations. Launched in Silicon Valley in 2005, Ubergizmo is one of the top consumer tech news websites. Ubergizmo launched in Japan in August 2018. Eliane is also an Advisor to the Board for Kolibree, the world’s first connected electric toothbrush and French success story featured on U.S. national media. Kolibree won two CES awards in 2017 and 2018. Since 2017, she is an Advisor to the Board and co-founder at CareOS, an award-winning IoT platform dedicated to beauty and health in the bathroom.

Ubergizmo is a Webby Award Honoree and has been featured in major media such as The Wall Street Journal, German national T.V. 3Sat, Stern magazine, Japanese newspaper NIKKEI, BBC online, and USA Today. Eliane became an American citizen in 2014. In 2015, she was knighted in the National Order of Merit by the French government. She is a pioneer in the Fashion and Tech movement that became later a hot trend in Silicon Valley with the rise of wearable technology. Her highly successful 2009 “fashion and tech” Digital Summer tech event was the first of its kind.

Originally a Math/Physics major, she chose to earn a visual communication Master’s Degree before working in visual identity with prestigious firms such as Minale Tattersfield Design Strategy. Technically savvy, Eliane also designed UX for an award-winning adventure video game.
