Edge Startup of the Year CxO Interviews: Muralidhar Goparaju, Founder & CEO, Amberflux

In the lead up to the presentation of the Edge Startup of the Year Award at Edge Computing World, we’re taking some time to get to know the leaders of each of the ten Finalists.  Today we are talking with Muralidhar Goparaju, Founder & CEO of Amberflux, about why he focused on edge computing,  what the company is bringing to market, and how he sees the edge market developing in the future:

ECW: Tell us a bit about yourself – what led you to get involved in the edge computing market?

MG: The founders come with a mix of telecom and IT experience developing, delivering tech solutions for customers across geographies. In the past, it used to be the IT dept that managed technology with a primary focus on operational aspects. With digitalization of businesses, IT is being used for both strategic and operational aspects. With an increase in business users becoming the primary users, they are an equal and active role player in technology selection and usage. Large volumes of business-critical data is getting generated at the edge, real users are at the edge and hence its imperative that analytics, AI move to the edge. For businesses to leverage digital strategies to revenue and profit maximization, computing at the edge is a necessity. This is an opportunity that is going to reach new frontiers in digitalization and transform end user experience for business benefit. This is what led me to focus on edge computing.

What is it that Amberflux are bringing to the edge market?

Amberflux provides business orchestration solutions between cloud AI and edge AI. We enable businesses to run their chosen AI on low cost devices. Our efficient, lightweight, containerized microservices help partners offer rapid integration and deployment of AI for business users both at the front-end applications and backend AI engines.

We have been involved in R&D and filing our patents for nearly 5 years. We have obtained 3 Granted Patents in US; 2 patent pending applications in US & India in technical areas like cognitive systems, regulating control systems etc

But the company and commercialization has commenced this year. Over the last 3 months we are actively engaged in discussions with possible partners for developing and delivering the first set of microservices, which should be delivered in the Q4 of this year for testing by the partners.

The team consists of the following

  • Murali: CEO. 30 yrs+ in delivering enterprise apps and infrastructure
  • Raghu: COO. 25 yrs+ in software marketing, sales, sales operations
  • Vinu: Client Management. 12 yr+ in renewable energy

How do you see the edge market developing over the next few years?

Over the next 3 years we anticipate Edge Computing and AI to go mainstream and the accelerators like 5G, AI Accelerator Chips, Low-Power Chips, dedicated Edge Chips with AI capabilities, and maturity of Self Learning ML/DL Models.

The success of these hardware innovations, will also depend on making AI adaptable to business users. One of the key challenges today is AI is a technical solution, but the knowledge to do AI inferencing is with the business users. Over the next 3 years, AI will become more available and ubiquitous leading to erasing of this technical and business boundaries with more and more business users adapting AI for their daily business routines and decision making.

We expect AI@Edge to become a critical component for AI solutions to lead the enterprises into the fourth Industrial Revolution.
